Lynda & I each finally got haircuts! By noon, we were on the road to Goblin valley. Temp 24C
What a lot of desolate landscape!
We were lucky enough to get 2 sites in Goblin Valley State Park , so started exploring. In the late 1920’s, cowboys searching for cattle were among the first to discover secluded Goblin Valley . The wonderful stone shapes of Goblin Valley result from millions of years of geologic history. The goblins are made of Entrada sandstone, which consist of debris eroded from former highlands and redeposited here on a tidal flat. You can let your imagination run wild as you look at these uniquely shaped goblins.
Marcel & I set out on the Entrada Canyon Trail, which was interesting, to say the least. It was an hour (1.3 mile , they say) of twisting, turning and winding trail following a drainage route. We finally emerged in the Goblin Valley , and made our way to the Observation Point where Ken & Lynda were. Walked back to the campground in 20 minutes on the road!
The evening was so peaceful & quiet - the only sounds were the crickets. The nearest bright lights are 10 miles away. It was gorgeous for star-gazing. It was a full moon, so never really got dark, but the stars were out in full force.
