Wednesday, January 16, completing the circle

Looks to be another beautiful day! Puttered around this morning then decided to complte the circle drive. It is a comfortable, sunny 25C (77F).

At 11:00, we headed back up I-95 to SR 1A1 and east to Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach. Once past Fernandina, the road turns south & follows the coast for a lovely, scenic drive.

12:45 Quite by accident, we came across a ferry which would take us across St. John's River to Mayport - there is no bridge at this crossing. The ferry was just loading when we drove up! By taking the ferry, we continued on SR 1A1 south through Atlantic Beach and Neptune Beach. Stopped at Pita Pit for a quick lunch in Jacksonville Beach, then went across the street for a walk on the beach.



Continuing south on Ponte Vedra Beach Blvd., which runs right along the coast, we passed many obscenely huge homes. There were also a few under construction $$$$$$$$$$$$$ Somebody has money! I Googled 'Ponte Verde Beach' and came up with real estate listings. Homes ranged in price from $1 million to $8 million!

By 2:45, we arrived in St. Augustine and the temp was 27C (80.6F). That was the end of the scenic drive, as it would be on to the Interstate for the return north. On the way to I-95, we came across  Camping World! Had to go in & look around.

On our return to the RV park, we discovered that the electronic cooler wasn't working! Guess it doesn't owe us anything, as we have had it for over 10 years!

Today's drive was a leisurely 235KM.
