Finally resurrecting the blog!
We were packed up & on the road by 9:00, heading north-west to Sault Ste Marie. It was cloudy with showers, but a comfortable 23C.
Stopped for fuel at McKerrow, then when approaching Webbwood, traffic was stopped. Naturally, we assumed the worst - that the highway was blocked due to a collision. Eventually we started moving slowly and when we reached the town we discovered that the highway was closed in order to allow a Canada Day parade to proceed! Only in a small town!
We arrived in the Soo and proceeded to Customs. I had a list of everything that was in the fridge (no meat, fruit or vegetables), which I handed to the border guard. We were waved on through! Now we are off to Medicine Hat, Alberta via the US.
Our first night was in Newberry, Michigan, where it started raining. After setting up in the rain, we were off to town for groceries. To our surprise, the IGA was truly a "one stop shop". There is nothing wrong with a grocery store that also sells beer, wine & liquor!
We covered 592km today
It rained heavily all evening.....
